The current study sought to investigate the impact of the Fly Swatter Game on enhancing 2nd-grade students’ vocabulary learning, boosting the class participation, and improving motivation compared to the conventional method, Grammar Translation Method, exemplified by rote memorization and using translation into the mother tongue. The study was conducted among (71) 2nd-grade students from Al-Shuhada’ Elementary School. A mixed-method approach with a quasi-experimental design was implemented. The tools used were quantitative pre- and post-tests to measure students' vocabulary learning and a qualitative classroom observation sheet to assess students' motivation and participation throughout the game. The participants were divided into two groups: the experimental group, consisting of (35) students, and the control group, consisting of (36). The Fly Swatter Game was used to teach the former group while the latter was taught using the conventional method. The data gathered from the two groups’ pre- and post-tests showed that the experimental group’s vocabulary learning improved significantly more than the control group’s. The experimental group's mean score increased from (12.88) in the pre-test to (13.74) in the post-test. On the other hand, the control group's mean score only slightly increased from (12.58) in the pre-test to (12.61) in the post-test. Concerning the observation sheet consistently filled out by the subject's teacher, the head teacher, and the researcher, the data was analyzed thematically and revealed that the Fly Swatter Game created a conducive, dynamic and interactive learning environment. This was evident in the great levels of motivation and participation among the students. Therefore, the researcher suggested that the Fly Swatter game can be considered a quite efficient game for 2nd-grade students and can significantly enhance their vocabulary learning, promote their participation, and increase their motivation levels. In light of the findings, the researcher recommended using Game-Based Learning method in general, and the Fly Swatter Game in particular, for teaching English vocabulary. Finally, some recommendations for EFL teachers, future studies, curriculum designers, and the Ministry of Education were presented.
