dc.description.abstractDue to the lack of proper infrastructure in Palestine, frequent floods and the associated consequences have become riskier. Understanding flood risks and developing protection and sustainability plans in areas vulnerable to flooding is necessary. Wadi-Zomar, for example, has experienced extreme floods in recent years, causing material and human losses. This study aims to prepare a floodplain map for Wadi-Zomar, located in the north of the West Bank, using hydrologic and hydraulic models. This was accomplished by using different software packages, among which are the SWAT, HEC-SSP, HEC-RAS, and GIS. As a result, flood depth, velocity, inundation limit, and hazard maps were developed. The longitudinal profiles along the main stream and tributaries were also analyzed to assess the water level changes and identify the flood critical points. The obtained results showed that the inundation area resulting from Q100 is 18.75 km², including areas where medium to high depths were recorded, reflecting a significant flood risk. The hazard indicators (depth, velocity, and velocity-depth) revealed that most of the affected areas fall within low to medium hazard categories, while a few limited areas were classified as critical. This study highlights the importance of flood modeling and confirms its role in floodplain mapping. And highlights the necessity of integration between modeling and urban planning, especially in areas that have experienced floods. This can help decision-makers to sustainably manage urban development in Palestine
