Abstract
The study was aimed at disclosing the level of availability of creative thinking skills in the training and activities of mathematics textbooks for the lower basic level in Palestine. It used the analytical descriptive curriculum, and the study community and its sample of mathematics textbooks were taught for the lower basic stage of the 2021/2022 academic year in parts. The tool was a content analysis form prepared by the researcher, which included (4) basic skills, of which 24 sub indicators emerged. The study results showed that lower basic textbooks had creative thinking skills but needed to be codified from examples and activities and varied across fields. Their availability ratios came in the order as follows: The resilience skill ranked first with a number of repetitions (687), a percentage (39.30%), the originality skill ranked second with a number of repetitions (511), a percentage (29.20%), the problem sensitivity skill ranked third with a number of iterations (346), and a percentage (19.80%), while the fluency skill ranked last with a number of repetitions (204), a percentage (11.70%). The study recommended increasing activities and exercises incorporating creative thinking skills and working on developing and honing thinking skills in general among lower elementary students.
Keywords: creative thinking skills, activities of mathematics textbooks, the lower basic stage.
