| dc.description.abstract | There is an increase in the rate of construction in the last few decades in Palestine and specially in city-centers. Therefore, there is a trend towards the construction of multi-story buildings. Moreover, commercial buildings are vital to be available in the urban areas as part of the essential facilities in any residential or commercial area. This project proposes for the analysis and design for a multi-story commercial building called HEBRON CENTER, the best structural-systems were chosen for both gravity as well as seismic resisting, to fulfill the desired performance. Hence the project includes analysis and assessment of the available design-document to determine its problems like irregularity, deflection and other problems, in order to handle out all the conceptual design decisions. Then the structural analysis had been accomplished for the proposed system using both manual (Hand Calculations) and software(ETABs). 3D structural model for the building was prepared, and the analysis was verified using conceptual hand calculation for 1D model. Detailed design using manual and a software program will also be presented. The design-development and reinforcement details has been done according to the ACI-318, ASCE 07 and IBC codes, for both static and dynamic loads including seismic loads. To provide the building with an adequate earthquake resistance, some modifications on structural configuration were made taking into consideration the architectural drawings. As a result, building behavior was acceptable in accordance with codes requirements. Design detailing was performed using intermediate moment frames with special shear walls system. Detailed drawings of structural elements were also prepared using AUTOCAD software. | en_US |
