This study sought to identify the state of registration at Palestinian universities according to faculty members and students. To this end, the researcher raised three questions: 1. How severe are the registration problems facing Palestinian university students according to faculty members and students? 2. Are there statistically significant differences among domains of registration problems according to faculty members and students? 3. Does the degree of feeling of registration problems, according to faculty members and students, differ due to variables of sex, university and professional level? The study was conducted on a random sample of faculty members and students of Palestinian universities: An-Najah National University, Al-Quds University at Abu Dees, Birzeit University. The subjects were 210 faculty members and 888 male and female students distributed among all colleges during the academic year 2001/2002. For this purpose, the researcher developed a questionnaire consisting of five domains. Problems pertinent to faculty members, problems pertinent to registration and admissions department employees, problems pertinent to registration procedures, problems pertinent to students and problems pertinent to academic schedule. To check the reliability and validity of the 62-item questionnaire, the researcher presented it to a jury and used Kronbach Alpha Equation. There liability coefficient of the faculty members' sample, in all domains, was 0.82 while that of the students was 0.84. Total validity was 0.84. In this study, the researcher used the descriptive survey method, the arithmetic means, the percentages, "t' test for independent groups, ANOVA, Scheffe' test for comparisons, Manova and Sidak's test for comparisons. After data processing and analysis, the researcher arrived at the following findings: 1. The percentage of problems facing students was high on all domains of the study. 2. No statistically significant differences at (α= 0.05) were found among domains of registration problems pertinent to students, faculty members and registration and admissions department employees at the three universities. 3. There were statistically significant differences, at (α = 0.05), from faculty members' point of view, on domain of registration procedures which may be due to sex variable and in favor of female faculty members. 4. There were also statistically significant differences at (α=0.05) among domains of registration problems pertinent to the faculty members, registration and admissions department, academic schedule, registration procedures and total degree, from students‘ point of view, which may be attributed to the sex variable in favor of female students. 5. It was also found that there were statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) on domains of problems related to the faculty members, registration and admissions department employees, registration procedures, academic schedule, and total degree for all domains due to professional level variable of faculty members and students in favor of the latter. 6. There were statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05)on domain of problems related to registration procedures (An-Najah N. University faculty members and their counterparts at Birzeit University) in favor of faculty members At An-Najah. 7. There were also statistically significant differences of (α = 0.05)on domain of problems related to students themselves, between An-Najah N. University faculty members and their counterpart of Al-Quds University, in favor of faculty members at An-Najah and between faculty members at Birzeit and their counterparts at Al-Quds University in favor of faculty members at Birzeit. 8. There were statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05), on domain of problems related to faculty members, between Birzeit University students and Al-Quds University students in favor of the latter. 9. There were statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05)on domain of problems •related to registration and admissions department employees, between An-Najah N. University students and Birzeit University students in favor of the former, and between Birzeit University students and Al- Quds University, in favor of the latter. 10. There were statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) on domain of problems pertinent to registration problems, between An-Najah N. University students and Birzeit University students in favor of the former, and between Birzeit University students and A1-Quds University students in favor of the latter.en
