| dc.description.abstract | This research investigated the effectiveness of the CapCut application in supporting student-produced multimedia videos to enhance English vocabulary retention among 11th-grade EFL learners in Palestinian public schools. Grounded in Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory, the study employed a quasi-experimental design with 76 female participants equally divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group created vocabulary videos using CapCut, while the control group received traditional instruction. Quantitative data were collected through pre- and post-tests, and qualitative data were gathered via semi-structured interviews. Results from descriptive statistics and ANCOVA demonstrated that the experimental group achieved significantly higher post-test scores than the control group (p < .001), with large effect sizes, confirming the strong impact of the intervention. Pre-test scores were also found to be a significant predictor of post-test performance. Additionally, students in the experimental group showed greater vocabulary retention compared to their peers. Qualitative findings further reinforced these results, highlighting that video creation fostered deeper engagement, frequent practice, improved confidence, greater learner autonomy, and positive attitudes toward multimedia-based vocabulary learning, despite minor technical and time-related challenges. Overall, the findings support the integration of student-created multimedia materials into EFL vocabulary instruction. The study emphasizes that combining cognitive, affective, and experiential components through CapCut-based tasks can foster sustained vocabulary mastery. These results have implications for curriculum designers and EFL program planners to incorporate more technology-driven, learner-centered approaches. | |
