| dc.description.abstract | Abstract This study aimed at clarifying the structure of the nominal sentence in Al-Buhturi’s descriptive poetry by fostering the standard rules formulated by the early grammarians with examples that agree with these standards from Al-Buhturi’s descriptive poetry to understand the reality of his poetic text and to what extent it conformed to the rules formulated by grammarians. It also revealed the semantic aspect played by the nominal sentence in his descriptive poetry. Since the linguistic structure in the nominal sentence, and the changes related to it such as deletion, introduction, delay, and the advancement of abrogates to it, contribute to directing connotations, expanding meanings, and achieving understanding and comprehension. In addition to what was mentioned above, the study included an introduction in which I presented the importance of the thesis, the problem, the plan and the approach I followed to accomplish this study, then an introductory chapter in which an overview of Al-Buhturi’s life, his poetry, his collections and their importance are presented. The presentation deals with the nominal sentence, its meaning and its determinants. In the three following chapters I explained in the first the effect of the absolute nominal sentence in highlighting the semantic and aesthetic aspect in descriptive poetry; while the second chapter focuses on the restricted nominal sentence and the effect of actual and literal restrictions in achieving a new semantic path that cannot be achieved except with this restriction, the third chapter shows the importance of verbal connections in the nominal sentence in directing the paths of meaning and its impact on achieving understanding and comprehension. Then the conclusion of the study which presents the most important results that I have reached.
