Abstract
This research addresses the role of embassies as a vital tool in enhancing diplomacy and international relations between countries. The study begins by defining diplomacy and embassies, clarifying that diplomacy is the primary means through which countries communicate to resolve conflicts and achieve cooperation, while embassies represent the beating heart of diplomacy, serving as the bridge that directly connects countries and peoples.
Diplomatic relations are among the most important pillars supporting the political movement towards the establishment of the State of Palestine. Therefore, the significance of Palestine’s political representation around the world through its embassies and consulates emerges clearly. Given the strong and deeply rooted relations between Palestine and its brotherly neighbor, Jordan, it became essential to establish a dignified building representing Palestine in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to strengthen political, economic, and social relations in this friendly country.
The Palestinian Embassy in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan serves as a true mirror reflecting to visitors, whether Arab friends or Palestinian expatriates, the civilization, progress, and advancement achieved by our beloved country despite all the challenges and obstacles it faces, foremost among them the brutal policies of the Zionist occupation, including settlement expansion, displacement, and intimidation, leading to the current situation.
This research has been prepared to study the nature and history of embassies, their political and social dimensions, and the main principles and requirements for designing them appropriately. It also explores the spatial needs that must be provided, and how to achieve the intended architectural impact by studying the contextual data of the site, including its climatic, social, and economic aspects. The research then proposes a suitable location for the project and presents similar case studies to deepen the understanding of readings and their interrelationships. At the end of the research, a theoretical reference is provided to support the creation of an effective and successful project.
