Abstract
Multitone testing represent an advanced test technique used for testing electronic devices whether it can be passive devices such as antennas, filters or active such as amplifiers. Multitone test can be used to test linear and nonlinear devices. So in this project, the multitone test method is applied to test antennas, power amplifiers used in mobile transmitters and a battery chargers using buck boost converters. The multi-tone test capability to detect defected from defect free antennas and power amplifiers was simulated in MATLAB. We also apply this test technique successfully to detecte defected and defect free battery chargers that uses buck boost converter. Multitone testing can be considered as a complicated testing method because the number of test tones used to perform the test. Multi tone signal can be generated by adding more than one sinusoidal signals with frequencies spaced according to the bandwidth of the device under test. The output of the device under test can be monitored by the spectrum analyzer or by applying crest factor test. Each properly working device have a certain crest factor which can be considered as reference to compare with. If any of the devices under test has a crest factor that differs from the reference crest factor by ± 10% we can ignore this device or consider it completely defected The main benefit of multitone testing is that it shortens testing time which can reduce the production cost of electronic components
