- ItemDesign and Construction of Absorption Cooling Device Using Waste Energy(2009) Bashar Shahrorui; Ameed Qutob; Sead Tubaileh; Abdelrahim AbusafaIn this study the possibility of using waste heat to operate a small size air cooling device was investigated. Such devices are proposed to be used in automobile air conditioning systems that utilize either the rejected heat from the exhaust gases or the engine cooling water. Two different alternatives of heat exchanger types was proposed, they are: air-water system, and water-water system. The last type was used due to small surface areas. The designed absorption Refrigeration cycle uses LiBr2-watre pair as the working fluid. The proposed device was designed and constructed successfully using the proper metals. The main components were: evaporator, generator, condenser, absorber, and tow expansion valves. Many difficulties were faced during the operation of the device as result of the operating conditions since such cooling systems working pressure is 91 kPa vacuums. It was difficult to operate the cycle continually due the failure of the used pump under deep vacuum pressure. As a result the cycle was operated discontinuously and a 2oC temperature drop in the cooled water was observed for a single cycle operation for cold water flow rate of 0.0254 kg/s. It was concluded that such cooling device needs special type of throttling valves that work under very small pressure drop and vacuum conditions. Moreover the locations of the input and output lines from each component should be selected carefully to sure good self regulating level control of the liquid.
- ItemDesign of cooling system for extracting water from humid air(2014) Afeef Nabulsi; Oday Amouri; Oday Homaid; Said Ahmad; Abdelrahim Abusafathe project provides a drinkable water Identical to the Specifications of the World Health Organization, the project contains a device condensate the vapor from the humidity of air, the system powered by Renewable energy to be green device, and increase the efficiency of the device, we look forward to let the device work without any additional power sources. The place was chosen to locate the device in Gaza sector as a suitable place for our project because Gaza has the problems was mentioned previously. Either Gaza sector has the suitable ability for the project because of its useful Geographical location; like high humidity and the temperature in the intended zone and amount of solar radiation and the consumption of water per the Gaza's person throughout the year, all of this information was obtained from a previous studies and researches. The system powered by solar panels; the good solar radiations in our targeted areas will be a very good potential to be immerged in system.
- ItemDESIGN OF SOLAR COOLING DEVICE ENHANCED WITH EVACUATED TUBE AND RADIATION CONCENTRATOR(2013) Ahmad Bahar; Amjad Fattouh; Jafar Masri; Karam Riziq; Abdelrahim AbusafaSolar energy has been of intrinsic use to humanity for a wide variety of purposes. It has prime characteristics that people soon realized how to take advantage of; it is abundant, unlimited and free. Although conversion from solar energy to electricity and thermal energy is not new, the technology has experienced a huge development in the last decade. The use of solar energy for water heating is already common. According to the latest survey on household energy by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, over 60% of households use solar water heaters, which is the highest level in region. With an acknowledged scarcity of conventional energy resources, high population growth and volatile energy prices, many worry that there is a future energy crisis developing in the Palestinian Territory. Solar energy is one of the most interesting and promising renewable energies in Palestine, therefore this chapter focuses in looking into its different applications.
