dc.description.abstract<p>The University of Michigan Energy Institute builds upon the legacy of the Phoenix Project established in 1948devoted to the peaceful use of atomic energy. In 2006, the mission of the Energy Institute was broadened to encompass multidisciplinary energy research in transportation systems and fuels, carbon neutral electricity sources, energy storage and utilization, and also address public policy, economics, and societal impact. An overview of the ongoing research activities will be presented with emphasis on solar and renewable energy.</p>en
