Abstract
Background: Many studies suggested that there is an association between vitamin D deficiency and acute coronary syndrome. In this study we aimed to assess the prevalence of the deficiency among Palestinian patients. Materials and methods: We collected 84 blood samples from patients with acute coronary syndrome and measured vitamin D levels. We also took other background information about the patients Results: The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was 91.7%. The mean level of vitamin D was 13.04(SD 11.36). There was an association between diabetes mellites and severe vitamin D deficiency (p-value >.05). Conclusion: Vitamin D deficiency was highly prevalent among patients with acute coronary syndrome.
