Abstract
The research aims to make spatial planning to organize the industrial zones (light,
medium, and heavy), where the facilities of these industries lack good organization
and planning and suffer from randomness, although the industrial sector is one of the
very important sectors in the West Bank from an economic point of view, but that
there is great randomness in it, and the various industries, especially the heavy
industrial areas, posed an imminent threat to the environment, human health and
population centers in many ways.
In addition to the many challenges and difficulties resulting from Israeli practices and
policies, such as the presence of a large part of these facilities in areas still under the
control of the Israeli occupation authorities, and the limited development of this part
of the lands, and therefore all of these reasons created a need for a spatial planning
process for these industries through the reorganization and planning of the various
industrial zones, and linking them in an integrated manner to mitigate the great
environmental damage resulting from these industries, achieving environmental
balance and at the same time meeting the economic need of these industries and
supporting their growth, taking into account the social factor, by providing an
analytical database for planning and organizing various industries, by diagnosing and
analyzing all the criteria that have been found and taken into account for the
establishment and planning of industrial zones in the West Bank.
The proposals of the plan, which were prepared based on the results of the diagnostic
and analysis process for the industrial areas according to the approved standards, to
arrive at organizational solutions for the southern region (Bethlehem and Hebron
governorates): closing the industrial areas and relocating them to an appropriate place,
defining new organizational areas for industrial complexes, and maintaining the
current situation.
