Abstract
Water is an essential element in life. It is used by all living things to grow and produce. Also it is used in agricultural, industrial, household and environmental activities. So everyone aims to obtain a good and proper quantity and quality of water as it is considered one of the most important elements for life to continue. Consuming water leads to generation of wastewater. So when construction of any house or building, there is a necessary step should be taken at first, which is how these constructions are properly getting rid of their sewage. In our country, wastewater collection networks are not available in most of communities, as in Kafr-Dan village. Cesspits are the most common way to get rid of sewage. This practice is a potential source of the pollution for the soil and groundwater, and it causes annoyance for human beings. Therefore, a proper wastewater collection network design is mandatory for this area, and this collection network can collect and transport the wastewater from this residential area to the treatment plant or to disposal area. To be able to present a proper wastewater collection network design in Kafr-Dan village, computer software such as SewerCAD and GIS were needed to know how to place the manholes, determine the loads and its calculations. After that, all the charts, drawings, profiles and plans were obtained. But before that, the needed data of the study area were collected to design the network. This data included topographic contour maps, buildings, roads and the boundary of the study area. In addition, the supply amounts of water and the population also were known. The output from this graduation project was a proper design for a wastewater collection networks for a part of Kafr-Dan village that meets the design specifications, and this collection network can collect the sewage and transport it to the outfall then to the treatment plant that should be designed at the near future.
