Abstract
The land for the Palestinians has a different meaning from any people in the world, so we have to protect and preserve them. The problem of solid waste and random dumps in our time is a global problem and a source of environmental pollution, which contributes significantly to polluting the elements of the environment which are water, air and soil, it should be noted that there are 82 random dumps scattered in the west bank governorates. Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate have the largest number of landfills (58 random dumps), which in turn has led to unacceptable environmental degradation. The improvement required for this deterioration must be achieved through a management and planning project Solid waste dumps in the west bank governorates. The study aims to assess the reality of solid waste management in the west bank governorates and then plan and choose the best location for the establishment of a sanitary waste dump based on a set of conditions and criteria in proportion to the conditions of the study area and also suitable to the researcher's potential. The importance of this study lies in the fact that it is one of the few researches on this subject and the urgent need to study the current reality of the solid waste sector in the west bank governorates. The study included five chapters: The first chapter deals with the general information and theoretical framework of the research. The third chapter deals with the previous case studies. In Chapter 4, the analysis included the reality of solid waste management and planning in the west bank governorates, Solid waste dumps and their environmental impact based on many criteria and conditions. Chapter 5 shows the justification and the urgent need for a sanitary landfill and then the master plan for the proposed landfill. One of the most important findings of this study is the need to establish a sanitary waste dump that serves the governorate of Ramallah & Al-Bireh, governorate of Salfit and some of the communities in Al-Quds Governorate. The study recommended the establishment of the landfill to close 82 random dumps that were and still pose a threat to the environment and the population.
