Abstract
According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of statistics[1], it was shown that the turnout rate on education has been increasing recently and as a result a need for constructing many educational institutions has come to go along with that increase. Educational buildings are one of the most important facilities in the daily life of the community. They are an essential source in education, culture and progress of the human being. Students and teachers spend more time in school buildings that they do in their homes. The most important aspects that must be considered to achieve a successful school building design; the architectural, the structural, the environmental, electrical, and mechanical aspects. The architectural aspects search for the required function and needs, orientation and view requirements in addition of linking the adjacent internal and external functions according to standards. The structural aspects investigate the Stability, strength and rigidity of structures. The environmental aspects consider the required acoustical, thermal, and visual human comfort. This project is split into two phases, the first phase (graduation project I) includes considering a school building as a case study to analyze it from architectural, structural, environmental, electrical, and mechanical aspects to compare it with the international and local standards and figure out the weak and strength points of its design. Then, a new architectural design for a school building will be prepared taking into consideration all faults and deviations from the standards witnessed in the case study. The second phase (graduation project II) will be a completion for the outcomes of the first phase; the school building will be designed structurally, environmentally, electrically and mechanically. The outcomes of the project will be a complete design of the school building that go along with the international and local standards. Shop drawings and bill of quantities will be provided.
