Abstract
Al-Hijjawi Printing Company was established in Palestine by a Palestinian family called Hijjawi family in 1935. This company now has the largest market share in the local printing market in printing. It covers the entire needs of the current customer market in different types of printings (books, magazines, boxes). It was noticed that the company has many problems that needs to be solved appropriately. These problems are: poor inventory management, a high loss in a nonconforming products, time and money waste in non-added value activities, absence of preventive maintenance system and weak quality management system.in addition to the weakness of the process of registration of production information, stores and problems within facility. Some of Lean manufacturing tools concepts was applied to the production and warehouse. These methods be used to get rid of wasted time in non-added value activities, to develop a strong and integrated quality system, to develop an inventory system, the corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance schedule Where 5s (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) will be used to reduce waste and optimize productivity, and Total quality management (TQM) will be used by which management and employees could become involved in the continuous improvement of the production, but in order to apply these tools the company must have a data base that will be used to rack problems and mitigate or get rid of them . The hope is to use the forms that we create wisely in order to collect the information that well be need when applying lean manufacturing tools and concepts. After the group of visits, discussions and meetings during the chapter we came out with a set of models-that can be found in appendix at the end of the project report- which will be worked out in order to provide the necessary information for the development of the production process as well as inventory the problems in the stores and make suggestions for their solution by implying a new scheme for the distribution of materials. Also, a new plant layout was suggested.
