Abstract
Conventional firefighting systems usually spray water or foam in the room in which a fire is detected and some even do so in the whole building. This however is not a cost effective way, due to the fact that sometimes a fire is only small and barely poses any actual threat, yet the water or the foam can be more destructive to the furniture or products and machines present in the room, from here a more accurate way of extinguishing fire is required. Therefore, in this project a system should be developed to detect and accurately locate the fires within the building then dispatch a pre-built robot to move to the located place and extinguish it. For more accuracy, the robot will also be able to detect the flames. Once the robot reaches the desired location it conducts a search to ensure that the location is on fire and not a mistake. The project will be developed in two parts. The first part is a system which consists of a central microcontroller connected to a group of different sensors to detect and locate any flames within the building area. The second part is a robot, which is attached to the ceiling of the building through a rail. The robot is equipped with a fire extinguisher and sensors similar to those of the system. The two parts communicate wirelessly to send commands.
