Abstract
The study investigated the effects of the dust produced from stone quarries and saws on the respiratory system of people. A survey was conducted to check if citizens are aware of the environmental effects of stone quarries. A spirometer was used to measure the efficiency of breathing of people living in different areas ( some are close to quarries and others are far ). Three samples were taken from each person, and results were based on the average. It turned out there is good environmental awareness among people, and that people living far from quarries have healthier lungs.
