Abstract
The current world has a huge movement of large scale projects, making the need of analyzing systems and approaches more necessary. In Palestine, as in other countries, the construction sector is a very important element for the economic growth as it develops social and cultural sectors and creates more job opportunities in the society. One of the most famous systems for evaluating and assessment buildings is Building Information Modeling (BIM) system. BIM is an innovative parametric software has seen widespread use in architecture design firms worldwide. This software enables architects, contractors and other consultants to work simultaneously and cross collaborate to produce a more refined, feasible and sustainable final product. BIM enhances the efficiency of the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) world to a point where buildings can be edited digitally in real time. This project will apply BIM system on the new building of Al Quds Open University in Tulkarm Governorate. The building is under construction. It has 7500 square meter total area and consists of 7 floors. The main reason for choosing BIM in this project is that it saves time, cost and quality, in the other hand BIM has the ability to make early decisions in making evaluation and analyzing designs before stating the construction process. Many software will be used in this project, mainly Revit software will be used to calculate quantities, estimate cost and drawing 3D building, and Navisworks will be used to scheduling project time. The main objectives of this project are: 1. Reviewing the main construction design plans and diagrams, 2. Calculating quantities and detailed costs and scheduling project time in order to minimize cost and time to the minimum limit, 3. And finally comparing the calculated time and cost with the actual ones from the contractor of the project.
