Abstract
This project has choose because no one has ever submitted a previous research on it in our university, until we take advantage of the old cars to keep up with the modern cars. The purpose of this project is to increase engine power, efficiency for diesel engine, decrease gas emissions and reduce the consumption of fuel. So by our project we can improve this properties. All of this adjustment will be done by using turbochargers so we will design theoretically the appropriate turbocharger for the diesel engine, so the aim of our project is to make old cars able to keep pace with the development of modern cars in terms of performance. The turbocharger, a compressor – turbine combination, uses the energy available in the engine exhaust stream to achieve compression of the intake flow. So to design the appropriate turbocharger we will focus on the thermal analysis, dynamics and fluid analysis. We will use a diesel engine from one of the heat laboratory experiments because we have all the necessary information about it and there is no turbo with it. We have not been able to design it in practice due to the lack of equipment and the necessary materials, in addition to the lack of financial support for the project. A blade design of the turbomachines is one of the important steps for a good turbomachine design. A blade design process not only directly influences the overall machine efficiency but also dramatically impact the design time and cost. In this study, a blade design and optimization procedure was proposed for both turbine and compressor blade design. A compressor blade design was used as a test case. It was shown that the current design process had more advantages than conventional design methodology Applying the theory of turbo machinery to increase the power and efficiency of the engine is used these days in the new cars, but the project focus upgrading the old cars, which is not common today.
