Abstract
Computer numeric control (CNC) machines are very important in industrial applications, they
use computer controls to shape different materials such as soft materials, aluminum, steel,
plastics. They are able to translate engineering designs consisting of specific numbers and
letters to move the spindle or workpiece to various locations and depths, offering the ability to
create complex shapes that would take a skilled craftsman much longer time.
Nowadays CNC machines are found in almost all industries, from a small-scale industry to big
companies. Everyone involved in the manufacturing should know what a CNC machine can do
for their industry, due to extensive applications of CNC machines in various industries. There
are different types of CNC milling machines such as, Plasma Cutting Machine, Laser Cutting
Machine, lathe cutting machine and Milling Machine, The CNC machines works on the
Cartesian coordinate system x, y, z for 3D motion control.
This project aims to build a CNC milling machine for shaping soft material machine, CNC
machines became very common in milling operation for soft materials. This technology will
enhance significantly the Palestinian industry.
This project will explain how the industrial CNC milling machine is going to be build. Several
aspects will covered in the project such as, the mechanical design parts and the material used
to build the CNC milling machine, the electric component and safety consideration and finally
the programing part of the machine will be done and completed.
