Abstract
Water is one of the most important substances on earth. All human beings must have water to
survive. If there was no water then there would be no life on earth. Water is important for all
the countries since it's an indication about how much power that’s country has and how much
much developed by its industrial, residential, military and commercial and all sectors which
are totally depending on water.
The available water resources for the Nablus City are limited, for approximately 200000
capita of the city. These sources have to satisfy the domestic, industrial and municipal
demands for the entire city and that’s exactly right for Beit Furik Town since it depends
basically on one major resource which is Beit Dajan – Beit Furik well. A good analysis
for all water consumption sectors must be done to have specific consumption amounts
for each sector. Since these amounts of consumption are not available completely so
that process gives us a vision about the trend of consumption now and makes us to start
thinking if our existing sources are enough and to begin looking for new sources in the
future if required.
Water and water sources are considered a general problem in Palestine due to the presence of
the Israeli occupation and control over natural resources, including water sources. To solve
any problem, we need to study this problem and examine all the surrounding conditions.
The work of our graduation project is about studying the water consumptions in Nablus City
and Beit Furik Town. Then comparing them with the (standard) ones for the different sectors.
The last objective is to determine the amount of water needed by each capita and each sector
in the study areas.
The methodology of this graduation project is described as follows. Initially we have
identified various water sectors using in the study area whether industrial, residential military
and commercial and all sectors which are totally depend on water. Then data collected from
the municipal water and sanitation departments and by visiting various places in Nablus City
and Beit Furik Town. Then we have analysed all the data that we got by Excel software and
determined the amount of consumption for each water sectors and compered them with
international standards
