Abstract
Reinforced concrete structures are one of the most popular structure systems used in our country, this project addresses the analysis and design of a reinforced concrete structural system that is located in Tulkarm (Iktaba Comprehensive Activity Center). This project is following ACI 318-14. The framing arrangement and column locations of the building were provided based on architectural and structural requirements. The structure system of the building is a reinforced concrete frame with slabs and beams floor system. This report covers the design process in the following order: the calculation of the expected loads on the structure, the design of the slab depth, the estimation of the column sizes, the design of the slab reinforcement, the design of the beam reinforcement for both flexural and shear, the calculation to check crack control, the calculation to check beam deflections and finally the design of the column reinforcement. Description: Commercial building is to be constructed in Tulkarm city. It consists of Ground Floor Level, First and Second Floor with this areas & volumes: Objectives: this project will be divided into two parts, the first one will include the total conceptual design of the project, the analysis and design for gravity, detailing of a selected structure elements (Slab, Beam, column, Footing) and adding two floors of steel structure, while in the second part we will check the ability of the structure to bear two floors of steel, the two floors will be Wedding halls. The reason for choosing steel to be the material of frames in the last two floors: the nature of these structures contains long span ,so use steel as frame in these structures will be better than concrete. Also, steel has the highest strength to weight ratio of any construction material. But in our project the main reason for using steel is an educational reason ,we want to improve our knowledge and skills in using steel in the buildings, also the orientation in the construction in developed countries is toward steel more than concrete. Etabs 16 software will be used for the analysis.
