Abstract
Every day in Palestine we address economic and social conditions, physical restrictions and political difficulties that challenge both the present and the future, noted CHF International Country Director for the West Bank and Gaza. In my twenty years of working on humanitarian and development issues in the West Bank and Gaza, these difficulties have been discussed many times and are well known around the world. But another challenge that we must face, far less frequently discussed in the context of Palestine, is climate change. All of the other issues will be affected and exacerbated by the effects of environmental degradation, if it goes unaddressed. Leaders and experts from the building and construction industry will gather in Ramallah for a one-day conference to raise awareness about green building practices in Palestine. The conference is being organized by humanitarian aid organization CHF International with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The aim of the conference is to exchange information, case studies and ideas among these key stakeholders from international and Palestinian private industry, development organizations, universities and thought leaders from around the region, and to spur innovations in the construction industry. From simple solutions such as better use of insulation to the latest technology in solar energy. Today, green design is still a relatively new concept and the history of green building only goes back a few decades. This however is changing the movement will inevitably grow. Not just because consumers want to have more environmentally-friendly, safer, cleaner homes for their families, but because society will be dependent on the efficiency and long-term expense reduction of building green homes. Those who have experience with green building and design, either through their own home or business or through working in the industry, have set an example of benefits of the eco transformation, saving money, energy and reducing waste.     Green building, or sustainable design, is the practice of increasing the efficiency with which buildings and their sites use energy, water, and materials, and reducing building impacts on human health and the environment over the entire life cycle of the building. Green building concepts extend beyond the walls of buildings and can include site planning, community and land use planning issues as well. The growth and development of our communities has a large impact on our natural environment. The manufacturing, design, construction, and operation of the buildings in which we live and work are responsible for the consumption of many of our natural resources.   The proposed site is located in the village of Jalqamous, which is approximately 10 km to the south east of Jenin in the north of the West Bank; Plot No.4.The site has an area of 3362 sq.m. The building has a total net area= 482.25 sq.m. and a total brut area= 657 sq.m. Jalqamous near Jenin lies in the northern west bank. The city is located at longitude 35.301 (east) and latitude of 32.462 (north),and is about 138 m above sea level.Mediterranean climate brings hot, partially dry summers and meld winter to Jenin.   The environmental design is a very important aspect in designing , since the main purpose of it is to preserve energy & reduce the dependency on artificial systems. Green building is the practice of increasing the efficiency with which buildings and their sites use energy, water, and materials, and reducing building impacts on human health over the entire life cycle of the building . In our analysis we depended on the new Palestinian code for green building to make an evaluation for the several aspects of green in order to make our building as green as possible. However, The thermal calculations were taken from ECOTECT software .In this project we turned into comparing between two models for our building ,and all of thermal calculations were shown below . And In our evaluation of green aspects for this building,,, we depended on the New Palestinian  Code for Green Buildings taking into consideration that the evaluation was focused on the design stage for every step. But the points for either construction & operation stage were put Automatically & we hope that this points will be achieved in the nearly future.
