Abstract
As a result of Nablus strategic location and economic importance, we decide to design the hotel in this city. The purposed location of the Hotel for this project will be on a hill at mount Gerizim where the city can be seen. And the area of the land is approximately equal to 21000 m2.              The hotel consists of five floors, the total area of hotel is approximately equal to 15435 m2. The ground floor with an area of 4072 m2 consists of entrance, Reception hall, Security, administration, Hall Wedding, club, Hall Meetings, Archive, restaurant, Services. The First, Second, Third and Fourth floors, each floor with an area of 2840 m2, these floors contain different types of bedrooms like one single bed, double bed and suites, and the hotel accommodates 120 persons.             This project presents an interactive design of a Hotel. The design involves Architectural, Structural and seismic, Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical, and Safety design. So the main chapters in this project are: 1- Architectural Design: In this chapter we tried to make a creative architectural design as much as we can. The Hotel consists of five floors located in Nablus city on a hill on mount Gerizim. 2- Structural Design: In this chapter we distribute the columns and shear walls for the hotel and we design the slabs, columns, footings, shear walls, and very important thing which are seismic design. 3- Environmental Design: In this chapter we analyze the hotel and by Ecotect Analysis Program for thermal calculations. Also acoustical design. 4- Mechanical Design: In this chapter we design many things which are:        A-) Water supply system.        B-) Drainage system design.        C-) Vertical transportation (Elevators).        D-)HVAC system. 5- Electrical Design: In this chapter we design lighting system for the hotel and restaurant, also electrical conducting. 6- Safety Design: In this chapter we taken in consideration safety issues for designing the Hotel and the. Architectural Design: The general shape of the Hotel obtained from architectural design for five stars hotel consists of five floors . Radical modifications had been done over architectural design to make it meet the goal of the project to be more suitable with the location and environment.     Structural and Seismic Design: In seismic design we make horizontal and   vertical architectural and structural configuration for the hotel symmetry, and we divide the hotel into 4 blocks to make regular shapes and a seismic joint between them. Then we distribute columns and shear walls as seismic engineering requirements especially for shear walls were distributed uniformly and symmetry and on the edge of each block or building to give a very high value for rotational stiffness. Environmental Design: and the most important things in the environmental design are heat gain, heat loss, and thermal mass needed. Also solar design is one of the very important issues for designing buildings, and to achieve the required level of thermal design there are some factors affect it like thermal conductivity for materials (U factor), orientation of building, length of wall facing south, location of building it means longitude and latitude, azimuth and altitude angles for the sun path in every day per year. Mechanical Design: in this chapter we will design water supply ,plumping, elevator and HVAC system . In the hotel ,it is necessary to study the mechanical systems in the building and design it in the best shape because it plays a very important function in the building. Electrical Design: Electrical design for buildings is a very important issue because without lighting the life will be very difficult; also lighting design is very essential. So in our project we design the lighting for the hotel  using DIALux program and we design  electrical conducting.   Safety Design: The safety systems is a major part must be taken into consideration when designing the hotels or any other buildings, because of its very important to preserve the lives of people, whether they are residents or workers in the hotel or even visitors.            The primary goal of safety engineering is to manage risk, eliminating or reducing it to the lowest levels. Risk is the combination of the probability of a failure event, and the severity resulting from the failure. For instance, the severity of a particular failure may result in fatalities, injuries, property damage, or nothing more than annoyance. It may be a frequent, occasional, or rare occurrence. The acceptability of the failure depends on the combination of the two. Probability is often more difficult to predict than severity due to the many factors that could lead to a failure, such as mechanical failure, environmental effects, and operator error. Safety engineering attempts to reduce the frequency of failures, and ensure that when failures do occur, the consequences are not life-threatening.
