Abstract
Nablus, the largest urban center in northern Arab Palestine , and the highest in population in its region , serves its community and a fairly extended community of rural areas as a center for commerce , services , education and culture.  The ministry Culture in Palestine in its continuous effort to build up the cultural infrastructure, has decided to construct a culture center in Nablus for the purpose of offering the possibilities of developing musical and theoretical capabilities as well as other aspects of art and literature, and to offer the public a nucleus of what should become a cultural focal point for the region.  In the structural design, the structures in the project will be analyzed and designed using computer software. The analysis will include 3-D model of the structure, dynamic analysis, and soil structure interaction. The architectural design will focus on selecting the shape, the orientation and the form of the structures depending on the functionality and the environmental requirements. In mechanical and environmental design, HVAC, water, and sanitary systems in the project will be analyzed and designed. The electrical design will include designing power and lightening systems in the project. In addition, designing the emergency exits, alarm system and fire protection system will be included in the public safety design. All design and analysis details of the project will be documented in a report. In addition, the project will deliver shop drawings, which contain all design details and can be implemented in practice. At the end, this project will provide a unique, safe, and cost effective design of a cultural center in Nablus. Site of the project:The region classified by Nablus Municipality that it is a (C) type (residential building)The allowable bearing capacity for it = 3 kg/cm2 (Nymph strong) The site lies in a newly developed residential area in southwest hills of the city overlooking a vast panorama of the city and Jerzim mountain, the area of the site is 7500 m2 and is surrounded by streets on the south, west and north sides. The site slopes down fairly steeply towards the north. A most interesting advantage is that the land directly to the north of the site across the street is dedicated by Nablus municipality to be a park, which will generate a most wonderful view from the building and to the building.     Scope of the workThe cultural palace redesigned mainly included theater, and service rooms. The design of the project involved:         Architectural redesign.        Structural design for all facilities in the project.       Environmental design.       Mechanical design.        Electrical design.         Public safety design.       Cost estimation    Objectives:It is clear that there is lack of well-designed cultural centers in Nablus. Our role as building engineering students at An Najah National University is to redesign the proposed designs of the cultural palace in the Western side of Nablus city. The specific objectives of the proposed project are:        Redesign the proposed architectural design.        Carry out structural design of all the facilities in the project.         Perform Environmental design including: acoustics, solar, insulation, safety.
