Abstract
This project aims at providing state of the art reinforced concrete structural design of a commercial and residential building in the city of Bethlehem; dubbed The Jerusalem Tower Building has already been designed and constructed in Bethlehem. However, the present design exercise will be conducted with absolutely no reference to any other propriety design.  Jerusalem Tower Building: The building consists of thirteen stories, of which the three basement levels serve as parking spaces of 1110.54 square meters, the ground level serves as storage area of 1110.54 square meters, the first and the second floors serve as offices of 955.8 square meters; the third floor serves as office of 857.36 square meters, the fourth level serves as restaurant of 899.13 square meters, the fifth, sixth and seventh serve as residential of 830.5 square meters. The first roof serves as a restaurant of 533.08 square meters; the second roof serves as mechanical area of 139.13 square meters. Loads on each floor will be calculated according to its function. Load values, combinations and factors will be in compliance with the ACI, the IBC or the UBC. Analysis and design of the structure will be carried out using ETABS while, the slab and foundation design are accomplished by SAFE computer software. Various roofing schemes will be investigated and explored; the most economic one is recommended. Foundation design is an inseparable part of the present design undertaking.
