Abstract
Air is life and the survive on the earth is impossible without air only few minutes. So, this is a project about air pollution that became a global problem and effect on everybody live in this beautiful world. Potentially air pollutants can be found in air anywhere outdoors and indoors but we care about indoor pollutants because many people spend large portion of time indoors as much as 80-90% of their lives. We work, study, eat, drink and sleep in enclosed environments where air circulation may be restricted. For these reasons, some experts feel that more people suffer from the effects of indoor air pollution than outdoor pollution; there are many sources of indoor air pollution. Tobacco smoke, cooking and heating appliances, and vapors from building materials, paints, furniture, etc. Thus, Indoor air pollution very dangerous, and world health organization said Around 3 billion people cook and heat their homes using solid fuels (i.e. wood, charcoal, coal, dung and crop wastes) on open fires or traditional stoves. In this project, we aim to use low cost material to build cheap device used in air quality research, we introduce a low cost real time system to measure particulate matter (PM) using Shinyei particle sensor. Particulate matter consists of a mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets, including acids, metals, organic chemicals, and soil/dust particles. Main sources of PM include dust, fuel combustion, and mobile emissions, divided into two categories: Fine particles have diameters less than or equal to 2.5 micrometers (denoted as PM2.5) and Coarse particles have diameters between 2.5 micrometers and 10 micrometers (denoted as PM10). We will use low cost device to measure particulate matter using PPD42NS particulate matter sensor that deal with (PM) in different colleges at an-najah national university like engineering, medicine, arts, information technology and in houses. These results give us an indicator on the amount of pollution from the sources and it will help us to making comparisons between them and find the reasons of these differences, in order to take a proposal of possible and appropriate solutions to minimize this problem. Indoor air pollution studies are becoming more and more important aspect due to increasing of health problems, in other side to create all reason for comfortable life for people in houses. Clearly, we aim to create awareness in communities, and to say them by using represented data tacked by cheap device the daily activities may be source of house pollution. Palestinian health institutions are very poor for indoor air pollution studies, and this project is the first one in An-najah national university   At the end, in this project we aimed to make awareness in the communities and enhance the culture between people which say some of activities that we work it always may be cause indoor air pollution in addition to contribute to kill people, we cant make control now, because process of control need a long-term research (5 10 years).
