Abstract
Why Nablus city ? Regional reasons: The city of Nablus is the economic capital or economic center of the north, the largest judiciary in terms of population. Recreational reasons: The city's lack of entertainment and crowded shopping area in the center of the country. Proposed location The land is located in the city of Nablus, west of the city, at the intersection of the two main streets of Tunis Street and Tulkarem Street, in addition to two sub-branches that surround the land from the east and south sides. The land has a "rectangular" shape with a relatively simple slope of 5 meters and the area of the selected land is about 17 acres Reasons for choosing the land of the project: • The site includes three different architectural styles, including residential, commercial and industrial. • The site is an entrance to the city of Nablus from the west. • Near the site of the campus, this ensures the continuation of movement on the library. • The land is located on two main streets (Tunis Street and Tulkarem Street), providing easy access and a parking. The idea: The shape of the blocks is inspired by the open book and the closed book, the open book with the shape of the flipping pages in the book gives us a slopped line. This line is used to give the shape of the roof for the project, a sloping roof that starts from the ground. It is used as an exterior theatre for reading witch gives us a new encouraging experience for reading. The second block of the project is taken from the closed book so that it gives a simple rectangular block shape By merging the two blocks together so that the rectangular mass begins and then the mass is headed towards the sky, this symbolizes the development of science and information Functions: Teaching spaces including classrooms, computer labs and private study rooms Reading spaces Areas for printing Spaces for activities include a closed theatre and exhibition halls Cafeteria Administration Stores and services related to warehouses The main focus of the project was the creation of a new environment that encourages reading and education away from the idea of traditional tables and seats. There was an internal reading room in addition to the large external staircase that forms the roof of the project. There is also a green space within the project.
