Palestinian Public Opinion Polls No. 45
MetadataShow full item record
After the failure to obtain recognition of a Palestinian state at the Security Council, the PLO declared that a bid will be submitted to the UN General Assembly for obtaining the status of an observer state under occupation. Due to the budget deficit that the Palestinian Authority suffers from and the rise in prices of commodities, protests ensued from some citizens and some trade unions. Protestors called for the cancellation or amendment of the Paris protocol so that Palestinian economy will not continue to be dependent on the Israeli economy. There was also some talk about laying out a plan to substitute the Oslo Accord or to amend some of its items. The state of division between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip still persists; both sides still adhere to their positions and no signs to indicate that the end the division is imminent.
