Are there achievement differences among the pupils of the basic fifth grade related to the method of teaching (Habitual, Portfolio)? 2. Are there differences in the achievement of basic fifth grade pupils in the Arabic subject in the governmental schools in the city of Nablus related to social gender? 3. Are there difference in the attitudes of pupils at the basic fifth grade for Arabic language in the governmental schools in the city of Nablus related to the method of teaching (Habitual, Portfolio)? 4. Are there differences in the attitude of pupils in the basic fifth grade in governmental schools in the city of Nablus related to the social gender? The researcher has used the semi-experimental methodology and the study was applied on an intentional sample of pupils in the basic fifth grade in the city of Nablus. Two schools have been chosen for that: Ibn Qutaybeh basic school for boys and Bisan basic school for girls. (A) Section, in both schools has been defined as controlling group for both schools with a total of 72 pupils, 44 boys and 28 girls. Also (B) sections have been chosen to represent the experimental group in both schools with a total of 76 pupils, 47 boys and 29 girls. The study tools have included a pre-test, an end test, attitudes scales, a portfolio and a teacher manual purposefully prepared for this study. The stability and authenticity of the tools have been verified. The test stability percentage has been (0.87) while the questionnaire stability percentage has been (0.88). This value is considered suitable for the purpose of the study. Outcomes of the study: 1.Rejection of the zero assumption. This shows the existence of a difference of statistical significance between the two averages of the experimental and the controlling groups in testing the dimensional achievement in Arabic language. This difference is in favor at the experimental group. 2.Rejection of the zero assumption: This shows the existence of a difference of statistical significance between males pupils and females pupils, and this difference is in favor of females pupils. 3. Rejection of the zero assumption. This shows the existence of a difference of statistical significance between the two averages of the experimental and the controlling groups in measuring attitudes. This difference refers to the experimental group that studied in the portfolio method. 4. Rejection of the zero assumption. This doesn’t show the existence of a difference of statistical significance between the two averages of males pupils and females pupils in measuring attitudes by using the portfolio method. The study recommends the following: Do more research on portfolio in other teaching areas such as mathematics and social subjects since it has a clear effect on pupils achievement. Curriculum designers must include a group of skills which teachers can apply in the portfolio. It is important to convene workshops for teachers to acquaint them with the portfolio and how to apply it in the best way. Moreover, it is important to do special workshops for teachers to acquaint them with alternative correction methods and how to carry it out for the purpose of good application of these strategies. Finally, to convene workshops for local community and pupils to help them in communicating with parents for the sake of accomplishing the portfolio as a common core point among them.
